A denture relies on the tissue and bone surrounding it for support.  Although your dentist with the help of a lab will create your denture, there are several oral surgery procedures to prepare this area for a comfortable fit.   Dr. Fugler will work with your dentist to determine an appropriate treatment plan.  After teeth are extracted, sometimes the bone is uneven and has sharp areas. By smoothing these areas, the denture is more comfortable to wear and easier to adjust. There are also times that too much bone may be present and the denture cannot fit over the ridge. In these cases, bone is removed to allow for a better fitting and more comfortable denture.

Extractions and reshaping for dentures is done under IV sedation.  Dr. Fugler is trained and our facility is equipped to keep you safe and comfortable when undergoing this procedure.
